FCC Releases List of Communications Equipment and Services That Pose a National Security Risk

The Federal Communications Commission (“FCC” or “Commission”) is required under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 (“Secure Networks Act”) to publish a list of communications equipment and services (“Covered List”) that are deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States. The Supply Chain Second Report and Order adopted rules for the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau to publish the list in accordance with the Secure Networks Act and Commission rules. This list affects the equipment required to be ripped and replaced. The following entities appear on the Covered List:

Huawei Technologies Company
ZTE Corporation
Hytera Communications Corporation
Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company
Dahua Technology Company

Any communications equipment or service produced by a subsidiary or affiliate of these entities is also prohibited.
