FCC Proposes to Begin RDOF Auction on October 29, 2020, Proposed Application Deadline July 15
FCC To Vote on RDOF Schedule and Procedures
The Federal Communications Commission ( “FCC”) is scheduled to vote at its June 9, 2020 Open Meeting on the final procedures for the first phase of the Rural Development Opportunity Fund (“RDOF”) auction (Auction 904), which will provide $16 billion to expand broadband at minimum speeds of 25/3 Mbps to census blocks that are currently wholly unserved.
As such, the FCC is proposing that Auction 904 will begin on October 29, 2020, with the following schedule leading up to that start date:
June 15, 2020 – Online auction tutorial available
July 1, 2020 – Short-form application (FCC Form 183) filing window opens
July 15, 2020 – Short-form application filing window closes
October 14, 2020 – Auction bidding tutorial available online
October 26, 2020 – Mock auction begins
